How Do I Take Care of Myself?

How Do I Take Care of Myself?
Massage My Stress Away is around to remind others to take care of themselves. Part of that is taking care of yourself while you go about your daily business. That’s where this photo comes in.

I work outside the home. That job provides my family’s primary income (at least for right now). That job also zaps a bunch of my time! As such, I must get creative to take care of myself!

The Morning:

When I get up in the morning, I typically spend at least 20 minutes praying and meditating. This helps me to center myself and helps me to take on the day!

I walk to the bus stop. This gives me some exercise, which is also very, very important.

Here is where I mix things up: On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I walk from the train station downtown (Union Station) to where I work. It’s about a mile, and it gives me a chance to burn some calories. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I take the bus to work, but I walk up 19 flights of stairs to my floor. The photo attached to this blog post is a selfie I took immediately after I climbed those stairs!

In this way, I’m getting my exercise in!

During the Day:

I also take the stairs as frequently as I can during the day! This helps me to get even more exercise. Throw in a short walk during lunch (or on the way back from work to Union Station, and that’s a lot of exercise!

I also bring lunch on most days. Not only is that healthier for my body, but it is much, much cheaper than buying food!

On the way home, I often read. Reading gives the brain a chance to relax after a long, hard day. Also, reading helps to give me new ideas that I can then use in all areas of my life!

In the Evening:

After putting everyone to bed, I often take a walk around the lake. This helps me to relax and helps me to get over a long, day. This also helps me to get to sleep sooner!

That’s an example of what I do during the day to take care of myself. What do you do?
